Portuguese Chamber Soloists

Raúl da Costa is the newest member of the recently formed ensemble Portuguese Chamber Soloists, focusing in the chamber music works for piano and winds. The other members are Adriana Ferreira (Principal flute position at the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, in Rome), Sérgio Pires (Solo Clarinetist in Musikkollegium Winterthur, Switzerland), Rui Lopes (“the best Portuguese Bassoonist of today.” - RTP), Samuel Bastos (Solo oboe in Zurich Opernhaus), and Flávio Barbosa (horn, President's Award from the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) - Ian Stoutzker Chairman's Award).

October 2018: Générations France Musique

Raúl is now part of the Générations France Musique, having recently recorded live together with the cellist Aleksey Shadrin in Maison Radio France, Paris.

August 2018: Raúl da Costa is appointed Artistic Director of the Póvoa de Varzim International Music Festival

Raúl is appointed the new Artistic Director of one of the oldest and most distinguished Festivals in Portugal. Created in 1978 by Sequeira Costa, the Póvoa de Varzim International Music Festival has since then brought many of the most influential artists in the world to Portugal, including names like Rostropovich, Alfred Brendel, Maria João Pires, Vadim Repin, Boris Berezovsky, Jordi Savall, among many others.

 

May 2016: Raúl da Costa wins ZF-Musikpreis

Raúl da Costa receives the 1st Prize and all special prizes in the ZF-Musikpreis International Piano Competition. The competition takes place every two years in Germany and Austria, and is a special event for only six selected pianists. Past winners of this competition include Herbert Schuch, Amir Tebinikhin, and Alexej Gorlatch.

 

July 2015: Raúl da Costa is scholar of the Gulbenkian Foundation

Raúl da Costa is awarded a scholarship by the renowned Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon to continue his master studies in the University for Music, Drama and Media in Hannover under the tutorship of Professor Bernd Goetzke.
